Math

This week our unit is on addition facts to 20. Students learned different ways to solve addition facts with sums up to 20. We will also continue to work on subtraction facts, doubles, and fact families. If you have not purchased flash cards at home, you can always have your student make them with note cards. It is important that they are practicing them at home because it will help them become more fluent with their facts.

Cold Weather

Please remember that recess will be outside if the wind chill is 20 degrees or warmer. Students will not be allowed to stay inside for recess unless they have a note from your family doctor.

Exploration Stations

This week the students began a new Social Studies unit on Famous Americans and Symbols. Today we discussed George Washington and everything that he helped us accomplish in the United States. A few other topics through out the next four weeks will include, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., the American Flag, voting, and important symbols/monuments. Please continue to talk to your children about these topics at home.

Reminders/Announcements

• Box Tops/Labels for Education - Please continue to turn in any box tops/labels that you have at home. This is a wonderful fundraiser that helps raise money for our school. Feel free to ask aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and neighbors! :) 
• Sight Words - Students brought home 6 sight words last week. They are the words that they need to know for the week. Next week there are 6 new words. Please continue to work with your student at home.
• Please send a note if your child will be picked up or taking another bus home.
