Your student brought home their spelling test from today - please make sure to look it over with them! :)
Math
We are continuing Unit 8 on tens and ones. Students are developing an understanding of place value which is essential for work with two-digit addition and subtraction as well as dealing with numbers in all areas. When your student comes home, please make sure to check their green folder for their daily math sheet. Students have also been taking their 90 second math tests and are doing a great job! Please continue to work at home on flashcards!
Conferences/Progress Reports
Our next parent-teacher conferences are on an as needed basis. I sent an email on Tuesday morning to the parents of the students that I would like to meet with. Progress reports went home today Friday, January 23rd - those are also on an as needed basis. If your student does not receive one but you would still like to discuss their progress, we can set up a time to talk or do a conference email.
Our Valentines Day party will be on Thursday, February 12th from 2:00 - 3:00pm. The students will pass out their valentines before the party. Please DO NOT address the valentines, just have your child sign his/her name. This makes passing them out much easier. There are currently 21 students in the classroom (12 girls & 9 boys).
Thank you!
Twitter
First Grade has joined Twitter! If you have an account and would like to follow us, our name is @idefirstgrade1. We will be using twitter to post pictures of activities that the students complete in the classroom as well as work. This is a great way to stay connected at home and see what your students are accomplishing!
