Math
Students learned how to compare numbers using their 120 chart. We focused on finding numbers that are 1 more or 1 less as well as 10 more or 10 less. Students also reviewed greater than, less than, and equal to. Next week students will learn how to add two-digit numbers and how to regroup. Please continue to practice fast facts at home!
Valentine's Day
Our Valentine's Day party was so much fun! Each student got to design and make their own bookmark, play hot potato and a matching heart activity. Thank you to all the parents that helped with food, plates, and napkins! A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Rizzo, Mrs. Feylo, Mrs. Hamersly, and Mrs. Bewley for organizing and coming up with such fun and creative activities! THANK YOU!!!
Field Trip
On Thursday, February 26, all first grade classrooms will be going on a field trip to the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet to see the play, “Rainbow Fish.” The bus will leave at 9:05 and will return by 11:50. The children will still be able to purchase a hot lunch on that day if desired. A permission slip will be sent home soon. Please fill it out and return it along with $6 cash by February 9 if your child plans on attending. Thanks.
Twitter
First Grade has joined Twitter! If you have an account and would like to follow us, our name is @idefirstgrade1. We will be using twitter to post pictures of activities that the students complete in the classroom as well as work. This is a great way to stay connected at home and see what your students are accomplishing!

I will be receiving flyers that I will send home within the next few weeks if you don't want to do it online. If you have any questions please let me know!
