Week of Oct. 8th - Oct. 12th
This past week flew right on by! I can not believe it is Friday already! We had a fun week reading more of our Lois Ehlert books. We did a fun project today where we used stencils to draw different shapes in order to make our favorite animals. On Wednesday we read two Scaredy Squirrel books and talked about different things that we are afraid of. The students had so much fun learning new things about each other and the squirrels turned out so cute!

Math:
We are continuing to work on addition and subtraction in Chapter 4. The students are learning about inverse operations.
An example: 2+6=8 and 8-6=2.
There are some things that you can be doing with your child at home! Ask them about fact families. Give them three numbers and see if they can put it in a fact family:
1+3=4
3+1=4
4-3=1
4-1=3
Looking Ahead:
- Spooky Story Day is Friday Oct. 26th - Students can wear orange and black for Halloween!
- The PTO sponsored Halloween party will be Oct. 26th at night.
- Early Dismissal Day - Thurs. Oct. 25th
HALLOWEEN PARTY :)
Our Halloween festivities are scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st. The children’s costume parade will begin between 1:40-1:45 p.m. outside the school (weather permitting). Our classroom party will begin at 2:00 p.m. Students should bring their costumes to school that day in a bag with their name clearly marked on it. Please try to make their costumes easy to put on over their regular clothes. Makeup cannot be applied at school and toy weapons are not allowed.
Also, children are not allowed to bring candy or edible treats to pass out to their classmates on this day. The students will be having a small treat and drink in the classroom during the party. We also have students who have various food allergies in our class.
