Math
This week we finished up Chapter 7 and took our test on fact families.
Please look over the test with your student and return the green sheet once it
is signed. Next week we will begin Chapter 8, which introduces the concept of
reading data. We will look at a group of objects with various attributes and
sort them in different ways, as well as learn how to read graphs.
Reading logs
The November reading logs were due on Friday – If your child
has not turned it in yet, please finish completing it and have them turn it in
this week! On Monday we will be putting together our December reading logs so
look for it in your child’s folder!
Author of the Month
Our Author of the Month for December is Chris Van Allsburg. Two of his most popular books that you
and your child may know are “The Polar Express” and “Jumanji.” He wrote and
illustrated both books as well as won the Caldecott Medal! We will read many
more throughout the month of December!
Classroom Holiday Party
We will be having a fun classroom holiday party on Friday,
December 21st, from 2:00-3:00pm. The kids will enjoy playing games, doing different arts and
crafts, listening to music and having special treats. If you are available to
help out for the Holiday party please let me or Courtney Moy know as soon as
possible.
Holidays
Since the holidays are approaching, we will be doing multiple projects and reading many different books. If your family does not celebrate Christmas and your student would like to share with the class about their holiday please just let me know and I would love to do so! We can read books and I could do my own research to help inform our students about other celebrations.
New Student
If your son/daughter hasn’t told you already, we have welcomed a new student into our classroom. Her name is Juweriya Asad and her family has recently moved back into the district. Please add her name to our class list and remove Riddhi Kedia.
Important Dates
- Santa’s Secret Shop – December 5th and 6th at school
- December 24th – January 6th – No School – Winter Break
Reminders
- Please remember that recess will be outside if the wind chill is 20 degrees or warmer - students will NOT be allowed to stay inside for recess unless they have a note from your family doctor.
- Please bring in BOX TOPS :)
- Bring in a sock for math!
- Please make sure your student is either wearing gym shoes to school, or bringing an extra pair to change into. There have been lots of accidents and kids getting hurt in gym because they have boots on or inappropriate shoes. If your student does not have gym shoes they will not be participating during gym.
Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend :)

ReplyDeleteThis blog is really a cute and sweet one. The pictures of drawing that are attached in this blog are really cute. With some ordinary and little pictures teachers can create sense of http://nbc.com.co/top-5-best-tools-homework-time/ in young students. This blog will really liked by kids of early age. Parents should visit this blog for their children.
