Math
This week we started Chapter 13 which focuses on solid (3-D) and plane (flat) figures. We discussed ways that we can sort shapes, (color, size, shape) as well how many corners and sides the figures have. Next week, we will spend time classifying plane figures by their number of sides and corners (attributes). Our vocabulary for solid shapes: cube, sphere, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, and pyramid. Look for these shapes at home with your child and see if they can identify them!
Valentines Party
I wanted to say thank you to our wonderful parents that helped make our party a huge success! The kids had a blast playing games and eating cute healthy snacks! Thank you to Courtney Moy, Jen McCarthy, Christine Steffgen, and Cindy Stewart!

This week, we began our new science unit on Recycling. Today we discussed the words reduce, reuse and recycle. Other topics include landfills, no-waste lunches, and natural resources. At the end of the unit we will have a few visitors from SCARCE come to our school and discuss recycling and how important it is. They will also get a chance to see how paper is made and make it themselves!

- Please remember that recess will be outside if the wind chill is 20 degrees or warmer - students will NOT be allowed to stay inside for recess unless they have a note from your family doctor.
