Math
Last week, the students learned about telling time to the hour and half hour. They were assessed, and I am excited to see that most, if not all can read the analog clocks! They are now on top of me if we need to get some where, or if it is time for recess they are sure to make me aware!! :) We have started our unit on measurement and will continue into next week!
ABC Countdown - Next week the students will enjoy:
5/13 - "J" - Joke Day
5/14 - "K" - Kid's Choice Day
5/15 - "L" - Letter Day
5/16 - "M" - Music Day
5/17 - "N" - Neatness Day
Blackberry Farm Field Trip
On Wednesday, May 22nd, all first grade classrooms will be taking a field trip to Blackberry Farm in Aurora, IL. Please make sure to dress your child in comfortable clothes and shoes, as well as apply sunscreen in the morning if needed. We will be leaving shortly after 9:00 and will return around 2:15pm. Each child will also need a sack lunch that can be thrown away after we eat that afternoon (hot lunches will not be available). Make sure to put your child's name on the outside of the paper lunch bag. I still need 1-2 chaperons, if you are interested please shoot me an email and let me know by Monday. The cost of the trip for adults is also $6! Thank you!
Reading Calendars
Please continue to read for 20 minutes each night with your student. We will continue to do reading calendars through the month of May, but March was the last month for pizza tickets. If your student has been turning in their reading calendars monthly they will be receiving a free Six Flags ticket for the month of May! :)

Teacher Appreciation Week
I owe a big thank you to all of you and PTO for everything that you've done for me this week. I have felt so special and it was awesome to receive candy, flowers, pictures, and cards this week from the students. All of the teachers were lucky enough to get lunch everyday and I know a lot of parents cooked a variety of foods for us! I loved all of the wonderful things that were said in my pictures and cards. Your children are all so sweet and loving! Thanks again!
Box Tops
I am happy to report that we WON! We had the highest overall box tops out of all the first grade classrooms! We brought in 2,181 box tops!! That was the second overall highest amount in the school! :) We will be having a free pizza party sometime this month during lunch. I will let everyone know as soon as the date is decided. Thank you for your help and support! The students are so excited!
