Math

Our last chapter in math is focusing on 2-digit addition and subtraction without regrouping. We discussed how to add and subtract starting in the ones place and then moved into the tens place.  We will have our last assessment next Wednesday on Chapter 24. Please make sure to work with your student at home!

Blackberry Farm Field Trip

The field trip has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 30th. All first grade classrooms will be taking a field trip to Blackberry Farm in Aurora, IL. Please make sure to dress your child in comfortable clothes and shoes, as well as apply sunscreen in the morning if needed. We will be leaving shortly after 9:00 and will return around 2:15pm. Each child will also need a sack lunch that can be thrown away after we eat that afternoon (hot lunches will not be available). Make sure to put your child's name on the outside of the paper lunch bag. If you were originally a chaperone and can no longer be a chaperone next Thursday, please let me know as soon as possible. I will send an email out just in case. Thank you!

Reading Calendars
Please continue to read for 20 minutes each night with your student. We will continue to do reading calendars through the month of May, but March was the last month for pizza tickets. If your student has been turning in their reading calendars monthly they will be receiving a free Six Flags ticket for the month of May! :)

All School Picnic

On Friday, May 31st, the school will be celebrating the end of the year with a picnic. Lunch will be provided which includes pizza, watermelon, animal crackers, popcorn, and juice boxes. If your student can't eat any of those items or would rather bring their own lunch they may do so.

Important Dates

• Monday, May 27th - No School - Memorial Day
• Friday, May 31st - School Picnic
• Wednesday, June 5th - Last Day of School

Reminders

• Reading Anthology books need to be returned to school. Please look around your house in case there is more than one. If your student has not returned the books I will be contacting parents to let them know.
