Math
This past week, students compared 2-digit numbers, found which is less/greater and used the symbols <,>, = to record comparisons. Next week, we will use mental math to find ten less or ten more than a given number. We will also review our different addition and subtraction strategies, including counting on, counting back, doubles, doubles plus or minus 1, and related facts to add and subtract within 20.
Report Card Envelopes
If your student has not yet returned their signed report card envelope, please send it in as soon as possible. We have to use them for the 2nd Trimester report cards! Thank you!
Scholastic Books!
I have created a link on my blog to Scholastic book orders! If you are interested in ordering any books for friends, relatives, or for your student, feel free to place an order online and use the code - LVB2T. When you order online, you can shop all Book Club flyers, enter your online orders, and pay with a credit or debit card. Every time you place your order online, you earn a FREE Book Pick and I earn a $3 coupon for our classroom! I will be receiving flyers that I will send home within the next few weeks if you don't want to do it online. If you have an questions please let me know!

Reading Calendars
January reading calendars are due next Friday. Please make sure to have them filled out and they will receive their new February calendars. Keep reading! :)
Progress Reports
Progress Reports went home today, Friday, January 24th. Just a reminder that only students who are NOT MEETING in an area at this time will get a report. This is not their 2nd Trimester grade, but it is important to look over with your child. It also lets me know which areas to focus more on an individual basis if your student is struggling. If your student is meeting in all areas, then they will not receive a report on Friday. If you have any questions please let me know!
Important Dates
- Friday, January 24th - Progress Reports sent home - "as needed basis"
- Friday, January 31st - Pajama Day - Wear your cozy pajamas to school!
- Tuesday, February 4th - Early Dismissal @ 12:00
- Tuesday, February 11th - 100th Day :)
- Friday, February 14th - Valentine's Day Classroom Parties
Reminders/Announcements
- Box Tops - Please continue to turn in any box tops that you have at home. This is a wonderful fundraiser that helps raise money for our school. Feel free to ask aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and neighbors! :) Classrooms with the most box tops will win a classroom party!
- Please send a note if your child will be picked up or taking another bus home.
- If you have any questions - please feel free to email me at alibeseth@ccsd66.org
- Please continue to practice sight words at home. Making flash cards is a great idea and allows for fun games, like memory!
- It's that time of year! Please make sure you are sending your student to school with a hat, gloves, and scarves! If the temperature is above 30 degrees, the kids will go outside for recess and I would hate for them to freeze. :)
- January Scholastic catalogs went home last week. If you are interested in ordering books please check out the link above! :) A few parents have ordered and it is super easy! When parents order online, I also get points to purchase books for the classroom! :)
I Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
