Week of Nov. 5th - Nov. 9th
This was such a short week! I was thankful for the nice long weekend though! :) We were able to get all of our work done this week in only three days, and still had some time for a fun turkey project this morning. Please continue to work on spelling at home - I was so impressed with the test last week - as well as the kids! Have a nice long weekend!

This past week we took our Chapter 6 test which was on subtraction strategies to 12. Please look over the test with your child and discuss the problems that they got wrong. Sign the green cover sheet and have your student return it! This week we will be starting Chapter 7 which relates addition and subtraction problems. We will discuss related facts and touch more on fact families. Please make sure to practice at home with your child. Thank you!

Exploration Stations
This week we started a new unit in science dealing with weather. Our first topic that we covered today was clouds. We discussed the different kinds of clouds found in the sky - and then made them out of cotton balls. We compared and contrasted their similarities and differences. Next week the students will hear about hurricanes and tornados.

Word Recognition Sheet
Today your child brought home a purple sheet in their green folder. This sheet will provide you with some additional ways to help your child practice their spelling words. It is extremely important that they are spending time outside of the classroom - and studying these weekly words. A few examples include drawing a picture of what the word means, making words out of pretzels, Twizzlers, or gummy worms, and writing their words in ABC order.
