Week of Nov. 5th - Nov. 9th

Week of Oct. 29th - Nov. 2nd
So much went on this past week! Thank you to the parents that came to conferences.  It was nice to sit and discuss your child's progress.  If there are any questions please feel free to email me and we can discuss things further. The Halloween Party was so much fun! The kids looked awesome in their costumes and I had fun dressing up with them as well :) This year is flying by and before we know it, it will be June! Hope everyone haves a great LONG weekend :)

Math
This past week we started Chapter 6 which introduces using different subtraction strategies to 12. We learned how to use a number line to count back 3 and also how to use addition to help us with subtraction (If 5+2=7, then 7-5=2). Our test on Chapter 6 will be on Friday, Nov. 9th.

Author of the Month!
Leo Lionni is our "Author of the Month" in November.  Lionni's books are full of colorful collages and uses paint in a lot of his illustrations. He uses more earth tone colors in his illustrations that are closer to the actual colors of the objects found in nature. Lionni's books include animals, birds, insects and other creatures found in nature to tell a story about what it is to be human. He is also known for using many similes in his books.

Reading Logs
Please have your student bring in there October calendars if they haven't already.  As long as something is filled out and your child has made an effort to read to you, or someone has read to them - I will accept it.  Your student brought home their new November calendars so please continue to read with them at home and complete the activities

THANK YOU!We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to our parent volunteers that ran the classroom Halloween Party! Courtney Moy, Christine Steffgen, Cindy Stewart, and Steve Cooper made our party a success and the kids had a blast!
