Math

This week we started Chapter 15, which discussed the concept of spatial sense. We used the following vocabulary: first, last, before, after, above, below, far, near, between, left, right, up,  and down.  We also discussed the importance of listening and following directions. Next week we will begin Chapter 16 which introduces fractions.

Reading Calendars

March Reading Calendars went home this week. Please continue to read with your child every night for at least 20 minutes. March Calendars will be due on Tuesday, April 2nd, when we get back from Spring Break.

Summer Birthdays

If your child has a summer birthday, we would like to celebrate it during the school year! You do not have to send treats. I give them a special gift, and the students make them a birthday book. If you have a certain date in mind or just want me to pick a day to celebrate - just shoot me a quick email and we can plan for it! It makes them feel like they have a special day to celebrate like the other students!

First Grade Music Concert

Our First Grade Music Concert will be Thursday, March 14th @ 7:00pm in the Lakeview Junior High gym. Please have your student there no later than 6:45pm. The students have been working really hard the past few weeks during music class to prepare for this awesome concert! I have created a link on my blog to Scholastic book orders! If you are interested in ordering any books for friends, relatives, or for your student, feel free to place an order online and use the code - LVB2T. Reminders

• Please remember that recess will be outside if the wind chill is 20 degrees or warmer - students will NOT be allowed to stay inside for recess unless they have a note from your family doctor.

• Please bring in BOX TOPS :)

• Reading Anthology books need to be returned to school. Please look around your house in case there is more than one. If your student has not returned the books I will be contacting parents to let them know.

• We are running low on EXPO dry erase markers (black and colored) as well as hand sanitizer. If you would like to donate some for the use in our classroom it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for your help!
