The test on these words will be on Friday, October 25th.
*Your students brought home their spelling test today - please make sure to review it with them and help them correct the words that they missed. It is very important that they study their words every night.

Math

This week we worked on strategies to help us with addition and subtraction. One important strategy was to "count on" or "count back" from the starting number. We will continue to introduce additional strategies and encourage students to use what they prefer to solve their problems. Please make sure to review their daily math sheet with them at home. :) Making or buying flash cards is a great idea because it will help with their fluency at home.

Field Trip

We will be going on a field trip to see a play on Monday, October 21st. The play is entitled, “Professor McBumble’s Fabulous Fairy-Tale Follies Revue – The Bully Show!”and will be performed at Lewis University in Romeoville. The bus will leave at approximately 9:30 and will return by 11:50. The children will still be able to order a hot lunch for that day if desired. A permission slip was sent home on Monday. Please fill it out and return it along with $7 cash. Thank you!

 

Halloween Party

Festivities are on Thursday Oct. 31st. The costume parade will begin between 1:40pm outside the school (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to come and watch!  Our classroom party will begin at 2:00pm. Students should bring their costumes to school that day in a bag with their name clearly marked on it. Please try to make their costumes easy to put on over their regular clothes. Make-up cannot be applied at school and toy weapons are not allowed. Children are also not allowed to bring candy or edible treats to pass out to their classmates on this day. The students will be having a small treat and drink in the classroom during the party. I have created a link on my blog to Scholastic book orders! Reminders/Announcements

• Box Tops - Please continue to turn in any box tops that you have at home. This is a wonderful fundraiser that helps raise money for our school. Feel free to ask aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas, and neighbors! :) Classrooms with the most box tops will win a classroom party!
• Please send a note if your child will be picked up or taking another bus home.
