Math
This past week, we wrapped up our unit on Time. Students learned how to tell time to the hour and to the half hour. We discussed that another way to say half hour is to say half past. We talked about the difference between an analog clock and a digital clock. Next week, we will begin our Geometry Unit. Please make sure to review our daily math sheet that gets sent home. :)
Blackberry Farm Field Trip
Our field trip to Blackberry Farm will be on Monday, June 2nd. If you are interested in chaperoning, please send me a note or an email. I am looking for around 5. The cost is $6 for children and also $6 for each chaperone. A permission slip will go home on May 16th. You may send your money it at that time. Thank you!
Chick Unit
The past few weeks the students have learned a lot about eggs, hens, roosters, chicks, and the life cycle. We are currently on day 10 of the incubation and only have 11 days left! We had a chance to "candle" the eggs today. This is where we go into a dark room and use a light to see through the shell and inside the egg. I am happy to say that we will have a few chicks hatching! Unfortunately, there are a few without chicks, which was cool to show the students the difference between the eggs.
Open House/Book Fair
Thank you to everyone that was able to come to Open House and the Book Fair last week! I am so glad that your students had the opportunity to show you what they have done so far in their chick unit as well as the great writing that they have been accomplishing. A big thank you to those that bought NEW BOOKS for our classroom or that donated money for me to buy books! The students loved them all!
