Your student brought home their spelling test from today - please make sure to look it over with them! :)
Math
This week, students learned how to show numbers on a ten-frame and find parts of 10. Please continue to work with your student on their addition and subtraction math facts at home. A few things that you can do at home: Give them missing number addition and subtraction problems (5 + __ = 8 or __ - 6 = 2). You can also do simple problems during dinner (If you have 6 apple slices and I eat 4 of them, how many are left?). Students brought home their Unit 2 assessment today. Please look over it with your student and if there are problems that they missed make sure to go over their mistakes.
Progress Reports
Progress reports went home today. This report is just to give you an update on how they are doing thus far. Keep in mind that we have only had 2 math assessments so their grades are limited. We will be able to talk more at conferences and I can answer any questions that you may have.
Conferences
The parent teacher conference link was sent to all parents today. If you have not had a chance to sign up, please click the link below to look at available times. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and talking about your student's progress thus far in first grade.
Halloween Party
Our classroom Halloween festivities are scheduled for Friday, October 31st. The costume parade will begin at 1:40pm outside of the school (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to come and watch. Our classroom party will follow afterwards at 2:00pm. Only the parents who volunteered to help are allowed back to the classroom. Students should bring their costumes to school in a bag. Please try to make the costumes simple for them to put on. Costumes must go over their clothes and no make-up can be applied at school. Their will be no exchange of candy to be passed out because of food allergies. If you have any additional questions please contact me at alibeseth@ccsd66.org. Thank you!
