The test on these words will be on Friday, October 24th.
Your student brought home their spelling test from today - please make sure to look it over with them! :)
Math
This week, students learned how to show numbers on a ten-frame and find parts of 10. Please continue to work with your student on their addition and subtraction math facts at home. A few things that you can do at home: Give them missing number addition and subtraction problems (5 + __ = 8 or __ - 6 = 2). You can also do simple problems during dinner (If you have 6 apple slices and I eat 4 of them, how many are left?). Students took their Unit 3 assessment today and it will be going home next week. Our next unit is focused on addition and subtraction facts to 12. Also, if you have any old (clean) socks at home that are missing a match or have a hole in them, have your student bring it in. We are going to be using them as erasers in math (a piece of felt works too!).
Conferences
The parent teacher conference link was sent to all parents last Friday. If you have not had a chance to sign up, please click the link below to look at available times. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and talking about your student's progress thus far in first grade.
Halloween Party
Our classroom Halloween festivities are scheduled for Friday, October 31st. The costume parade will begin at 1:40pm outside of the school (weather permitting). Everyone is welcome to come and watch. Our classroom party will follow afterwards at 2:00pm. Only the parents who volunteered to help are allowed back to the classroom. Students should bring their costumes to school in a bag. Please try to make the costumes simple for them to put on. Costumes must go over their clothes and no make-up can be applied at school. Their will be no exchange of candy to be passed out because of food allergies. If you have any additional questions please contact me at alibeseth@ccsd66.org. Thank you!

I agree that parents have to find time to help their wards get through the homework. Very busy and corporate parents normally leave their children in the care of babysitters at the expense of the child’s moral, social and intellectual development. bestdissertation scam. Parents should be able to make time for their wards. Parent Teacher Associations should bring up these issues at their meeting and find ways to address them.
